Introducing the annual theme

(English below)

The art of living

When I started my new job as a student pastor two weeks ago, I thought it would be nice to introduce an annual theme. A theme that I can stick to and that, at the same time, would ensure a clear line in the activities that ASP offers. After a while of brainstorming, thinking and searching online for inspiration, I came to the conclusion that the theme should be about what I want with ASP. But what do I want with ASP? What does it stand for and what is my vision?

For me, Arnhem Student Point stands for a place where students can come together, where they can develop themselves in areas that are not often touched in study programs, where they can stand still for a moment and, above all: where they can be themselves. ASP is about life. Not just about studying life, but about life in general. How do you live? How do you live a good life, the way you want to live it? What is important in your life? What gives you strength, inspiration to live? Which direction do you want to take with your life? And are you happy with your life as it is now?

As a student pastor, I can guide you in the search of answers to these question – if there are any answers. They are also questions that offer a range of options for organizing events. In summary, all questions for me come down to the theme ‘the art of living’, ‘levenskunst’ in Dutch. Because how do you complete your life? Which artwork do you make of your own life? The art of living is a philosophical matter in which philosophers wonder what space man has in their current possibilities to interpret life as he/she wants. It is about discovering who you are, how you stand in life and what room there is within your situation to be who you want to be. It is about taking care of yourself: reflecting, standing still and taking space for yourself , and at the same time developing yourself in all kinds of areas.

The art of living is the theme of this school year. If you would like to think along about fun events, have a conversation about this theme or another theme, or just want to talk and be heard, please contact me:

Vacancy ArtEZ and Van Hall Larenstein Student!

Hi all,

As the new student pastor at Arnhem student point, I am looking for students who would like to join my student team!

ASP organizes different sorts of meetings with and for students. All meetings have something to do with getting inspired, giving meaning to life, being with a community and being who you really are. Within this concept, events like sushi dinner evening, leadership workshops, game board nights, meditation sessions and many more were previously organized.

The student team helps the student pastor with organizing, marketing, pr, making project plans and everything else that has something to do with organizing events and getting people to know more about ASP. The student team consists of students from ArtEZ, HAN and Van Hall Larenstein.

Each student in the team works for a minimum of 4 hours a week at ASP. It is a volunteer job, but you will get a monthly compensation of 100 euros. The students complement each other in skills and everyone brings their own focus and touch to ASP. If you would like to apply for this vacancy, you can send a motivational letter and your resume to Please describe in your letter what you would like to do with/for ASP. I want to start with the new student team in the first week of October. The job interviews will be in the third and fourth week of September.

I would like to hear from you!

Kind regards,
Iris Springvloet

New student pastor!

Hi, my name is Iris Springvloet (25) and from September I will be the new student pastor at the Arnhem Student Point. I was born and raised in Arnhem, so my heart lies with Arnhem and the people who live here (temporarily and long-term). Together with my husband, daughter and dog, I live in Arnhem Zuid. I graduated from the University of Humanistic Studies as a spiritual counsellor and education specialist. I had a liberal and partly Protestant upbringing and since a few years I consider myself a humanist.

As a student pastor, I want to ensure that the Arnhem Student Point is a place where students can feel at home in Arnhem, where you can be yourself, where you can go with all your (life) questions, and where there is always room to tell your story. I work holistically and focus on who you are, what you believe, how you feel about life. Do you want to tell your story, discuss something you are faced with, walk through the maze of life together, are you looking for inspiration, or do you want to talk, have a nice meal or play a game? You are very welcome at the Arnhem Student Point and I look forward to meeting you.
